Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture

The Institute performs the administration and carries out some other administrative activities, expert and testing tasks and control and monitoring activities in accordance with special acts in the areas of plant variety testing, feedingstuffs, agrochemical testing of soils, soils and plant nutrition, seeds and seedlings of the grown plants, perennial plants (viniculture and hops), protection against harmful organisms and plant protection.

Plant health

Harmful organisms and plant disorders significantly influence both crop yield and quality of harvested crops. Knowledge of biology, propagation and harmfulness of pests or pathogens is the first precondition for an effective protective action against them. The grower also needs to recognize the symptoms of a pest attack in order to decide about the intervention in time. Information on the current spread of harmful organisms, their population density in a particular crop and the risk of spreading can help growers with the selection and timing of protective measures.

As a service for growers, brief descriptions of harmful organisms and strategies of protection against them are available for general public on Phytosanitary portal. Information on the current situation related to occurrence of economically significant harmful organisms and plant disorders, including some prediction models, or summarized results of targeted surveys on pests and plant diseases in the Czech Republic over a certain period can also be found on the Portal. Particular attention is paid to monitoring of aphids flight. In addition to this, phytosanitary information on quarantine (regulated) harmful organisms, information on pest risk analyses, phytosanitary diagnostics and phytosanitary measures is offered.
