Plant Production Section

Activities are defined by the Act No. 147/2002 Coll. on the Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture and amendments to some connected acts, as amended by later regulations; futhermore Act No. 219/2003 Coll. on the marketing of seed and planting material of cultivated plants and amendments to some acts (Act on marketing of seed materials and planting stock) as amended by the Act No. 444/2005 Coll. and the Act. No. 178/2006 Coll., Act No. 97/1996 Coll. on the protection of hop, as amended by later regulations, and its rule of practice; Act No. 321/2004 Coll. on viniculture and wine production, as amended by later regulations; Act no. 408/2000 Coll. on the protection of rights to the plant varieties and amendments to the Act No. 92/1996 concerning variety, seed materials and planting stock, as amended by later regulations (Acts on the protection of rights to varieties) as amended by later regulations and Act No. 78/2004 Coll. on the handling of the genetically modified organisms and genetics products as amended by later regulations., and the ordinance issued for the performance of these Acts.

Department of perennial plants in Brno

1. It controls and ensures methodically the acknowledgement of propagation growths and propagation material of fruit plants, vine and hop in accordance with the applicable Acts, including the issue of the decision concerning the acknowledgement.
2. It checks the production and marketing of the plant propagation material.
3. It cooperates with the Division of seed materials and planting stock during the registration of persons producting and marketing propagation material of hop, vine, fruit and ornamental plants.
4. It keeps records of fruit orchards and fruit-growing entities, it carries statistical surverys in order to determine the production potential of fruit species, it cooperates on the information concerning fruit harvest in the Czech Republic in accordance with the EU Council directive, annually it submits outputs concerning the area of the orchards in the Czech Republic, it assesses the intentions of the applicants for the subsidies for orchard and vineyard plantings.
5. It checks the suppliers of the C.A.C. fruit propagation material and the suppliers of the propagation material of ornamental plants.
6. It keeps records of suppliers who market the propagation material on the basis of registration.
7. Annually it submits the outputs concerning the amount of certified propagation material of hop, vine, fruit plants.
8. It maintains contacts with the certification authorities of EU memeber states and with the certification authorities in third countries.
9. It represents the Czech Republic in the EU bodies in matters of propagating material of fruit and ornamental plants and flower products and also in matters concerning plant health.
10. It participates in the preparation of acquis related to seeds and propagating material and relevant national law.

Department of the vineyard register in Znojmo - Oblekovice

1. It keeps Viticulture Register and determines the vine-growing routes in accordance with the relevant law.
2. It checks the vineyard registration.
3. It performs statistic surveys of the production potential of areas under vines. Every year it submits reports concerning the vineyard area and grapes harvest.
4. It administers granting of rights for repeated planting and granting of new rights for planting.
5. It represents the Czech Republic in the EU bodies in matters of wine.
6. It participates in the preparation of acquis related to viniculture and wine production and of relevant national law.

Department of hop in Žatec

1. It keeps records and registration of hop-fields in accordance with the relevant law and it assesses the proposal for hop-fields cancellation.
2. It ensures the issue of certificates for the hop in accordance with the relevant law. It issues equivalence of attestations and certificates.
3. It ensures the testing of hop varieties for the registration and legal protection, including the inspection of varieties after the registration.
4. It ensures the acknowledgment of the propagation growths and propagation material of hops in accordance with the applicable law, including the issue of the decision concerning the acknowledgement.
5. It represents the Czech Republic in the EU bodies in matters of hops.
6. It participates in the preparation of acquis related to hops and of relevant national law.
