Forest restoration

Forest restoration is a prerequisite for the sustained and balanced fulfilment of all functions of a forest. Natural restoration is appropriate where the species composition of the trees and their ecotypes corresponds to the site in question. Its success is limited by site conditions. In 2016, a total of 24 742 ha of forest were restored, of which 4 813 ha represented natural restoration.
